It was designed by Joan Martorell i Montells . The works of the convent began in 1877 and the church was built between 1882 and 1885 , corresponding to the current parish of Sant Francesc de Sales. The old convent was converted in 1943 into a school of the Marist brothers . It is a work protected as a Cultural Good of Local Interest .
The old convent, of stone and brick seen, shows a style of Mudejar influence, whereas the church is a neogothic unit of Barcelona influenced by Viollet-le-Duc , with ceramic pavements. It was designed as a single-nave temple with side chapels, but these were later removed. It has a cruise with dome and polygonal apse with anambulatory. Outside there is a brick that is seen combined with ceramics and stone. The set is highlighted by the long, slender needle of the polygonal bell tower.
